Learn how to make your own fire-forged carbon steel survival knife and real leather sheath on this 2-day knifemaking course.

This course is a practical course and you will make your own survival knife and real leather sheath and take it home.

This is an advanced course and completing the 1-day knifemaking course is a pre-requisite before you can attend this course.

This course is open to anyone regardless of age or physical ability. Kids under 16 years of age need parental consent to join and kids under the age of 13 need to be accompanied by an adult.

Where is the course held ?

This course is available at any of our training branches. Please visit our BRANCHES page to find the nearest branch to your location.

What will I eat on the course ?

Due to different dietary requirements of people you are encouraged to bring your own food. No food is provided on this course. A fire will be available if you want to barbeque a meal on the fire for the evening.

Where will I sleep on the course ?

We provide hammocks and waterproof bashas but you are welcome to bring a tent if you want a bit more luxury.

Do I need to be physically fit to do the course ?

No, you do not need to be fit to do this course although you need to be able to swing a hammer for a few hours. You do the skills at your own pace.

What kit do I need for this course ?

You do not need any kit for this course. All course materials are provided.

For the sleepover night you will require your own sleeping bag and eating utensils and food.

How old do I need to be to attend this course ?

Any person over the age of 16 years can attend the course on his/her own and if you are under the age of 16 you need to be accompanied by an adult.

Can I get a job with the qualification after the course ?

This course is STASA (Survival Training Association of South-Africa) certified and you can add the qualification to your CV. You can also talk to the instructor on the course if you want more information on how to become involved in a career with Boswa Survival.
